Frame & Jointing
70mm aluminium extrusions are precision-cut and mechanically joined using heavy-duty internal corner cleats and structural joint sealers. This method, standard in commercial architectural aluminium fabrication, provides superior durability compared to welding, which can weaken the alloy. All joints are sealed against water and air infiltration.
Panel Configurations & Traffic Doors
Odd-numbered configurations (3, 5, or 7 panels) are standard. A 5-panel system, for example, features one master panel that operates independently as a daily-access traffic door, with four panels folding away to create a full wall opening. This design allows you to open the entire wall for entertaining while maintaining convenient foot traffic. The exact configuration is confirmed during site measurement based on your opening width and usage requirements.
Marine-Grade Powder Coating & Coastal Protection
For coastal properties exposed to salt air, marine-grade powder coating provides enhanced corrosion resistance compared to standard finishes. Available in Charcoal, Bronze, Natural, or White, this finish is engineered to withstand high-salinity environments. In areas like Salt Rock and Sheffield Beach where direct ocean exposure is extreme, additional protective measures such as stainless steel hardware (316 grade) can be specified to maximize durability.
Weatherproofing & Drainage
Weatherproof wool pile seals are installed at the bottom track to prevent fine sand and salt spray infiltration. Deep-profile bottom tracks provide comprehensive drainage, directing water away from the building. In coastal areas, regular cleaning of these seals and tracks is essential to maintain smooth operation and prevent corrosion.
Glazing & Safety Compliance
Glazing options include double, laminated, and toughened glass. Toughened (tempered) glass is recommended for large openings and coastal exposures to improve impact and wind-load resistance. Laminated glass provides added security and sound dampening. All installations are designed and specified to comply with relevant safety glazing standards for the opening size and site conditions. Final compliance requirements are confirmed during site assessment.
Design & Specification: All doors are custom-engineered for the specific opening dimensions, exposure conditions, and building requirements. Wind-load rating, glazing thickness, and hardware selection are project-dependent and confirmed during the site measure and design phase.
